Manresa 38 Team Leader and Media Specialist

After attending Manresa 37 as a retreatant, I knew I wanted to help lead the next Ignatian Spirituality retreat at John Carroll. As a retreat leader for Manresa 38, I helped planned a three-day retreat for 70+ attendees in its entirety from the activities, all the way to capturing moments through photography and videography. We lead not only the retreatants, but also small groups. Manresa 38 was a life-changing, wonderful experience thus far bringing students together and forming a supportive community open to learning about Ignatian Spirituality.

Campus Oils Wellness Advocate

I started using essential oils in high school to help me in times of anxiousness and stress. After learning about the oils for a year and using the products, I joined DoTERRA Essential Oils as a Wellness Advocate. While attending multiple leadership meetings, speaking at different events, and traveling with and growing my team and clientele, I started my brand Campus Oils to help teach others how to simply and effectively use essential oils. I loved talking with students, sharing the many ways I use the oils and how I save money by using these natural products in my everyday routine. I enjoyed partnering with yoga instructors and attending campus events to share the oil experience and DIY activities with others. I was not only a leader in health and wellness, but also worked with a team of other DoTERRA Wellness Advocates to help them grow their businesses. It was my pleasure creating content to help others simply understand how to navigate their entrepreneurial journey.

Lead With Movement

Katie O’Connell, Emily Ellis, and I planned the Lead with Movement yoga event at Skylight Financial, located just outside of downtown Cleveland. All of the ticket proceeds benefited The Family Fatima Center’s Teen Leadership Program in Cleveland, Ohio. The Teen Leadership Program helps young professionals in the Hugh neighborhood develop the skills and resources needed for college and beyond. We partnered with yoga instructor, Tammy Lyons, and photographer, Olivia Stein, on the day of the event. It was a pleasure leading an event that benefited a spectacular program promoting education and student development.

H.O.P.E Club

A John Carroll alum class of ‘17, Leah Berdysz, started John Carroll’s H.O.P.E club as a student at John Carroll, which stands for Helping Other People Exercise. In 2017, I started working as the marketing and publicity director for the club, creating flyers for events and and finalizing details for off-campus fitness partnerships. I loved working with the leadership team in a health and wellness centered club on campus, discovering fun ways to workout with a group of motivated individuals while connecting with and involving the surrounding John Carroll and University Heights community.

Dare to Dream

John Carroll’s first Dare to Dream event, hosted by the Muldoon Center of Entrepreneurship and The Veale Center, took place in of November 2018. This retreat gathered over 100 high school women from the surrounding Cleveland area to learn all about the possibilities of entrepreneurship. I helped organize the event, as well as spoke to the high school students about the power of vulnerability. Planning the event taught me a great amount about recognizing other’s talents and how we can create simple but engaging activities that would help students realize their potential.
